Our environment
We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously at Craftypups, including the following:
- sustainably sourced beech from managed forests
- natural slate
- cardboard boxes made from recycled materials
- biodegradable bubble wrap
- packing paper made from recycled materials
- packing notes and business cards made from recycled paper
We reuse or recycle as much of the packaging that our supplies arrive in as we can. Please reuse or recycle the packaging we use to send your order to you.
We sometimes have wood left over after the products have been cut out and either use it as fuel or dispose of it at the wood section of our local recycling centre. We also sand back any wooden products that are end-of-line and reuse the materials to mimimise wastage.
Our beech
We use European beech for all our laser engraved coasters and plaques, as it has good overall strength, excellent shock resistance and good resistance to abrasive wear. It gives us a more consistent result than other woods we have tried, although there are obviously natural variations that affect the depth of engraving.
Our wood is supplied by companies who use sustainable sources. Our main supplier has the following accreditations:
-
PEFC Sustainable Timber Certification
The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent, third-party certification.
-
FSC® Certification
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management. The FSC® has developed a unique system of independent forest certification and product labelling, helping consumers identify timber and products from responsibly managed woodlands. The FSC® is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO).
We use a number of different woods in our products to give the unique style and finish we have developed over the last year or so:
